About the press
A legend is a tale told and retold
That is what agada — אגדה — means. It is the oldest job in the business, and it is the only one we are in.
Agada Publishings is an independent press for long-form fiction, light novels, manga, and comics — the kind of work that is too long, too strange, or too personal for a house that needs it to fit a category first.
Prose or panels, we do not treat those as different businesses. A novel of a quarter of a million words and a manga series are the same act: someone building a world across more pages than anyone sensible would attempt, and asking you to live in it for a while.
That makes us slow. Our first title took several years and arrived at one thousand and ninety-four pages. We would rather publish one of those than twelve of something else.
The author
Walker Philip
Walker Philip wrote and illustrated Warrior Of Lifta as a single solo project: thirty-eight chapters, roughly two hundred and seventy thousand words, and seventy original illustrations, finished in the winter of 2023.
“There were moments writing this where it felt like it wasn't worth it at all to finish, because of how long this solo project was. But what fascinated me most was the characters and the scenarios they find themselves in.” Walker Philip, from the afterword
